Automotive manufacturing giants Toyota and Mazda announced a major partnership last week, and are planning to build a 1.6 billion dollar manufacturing facility in the United States. According to the LA Times, the Toyota-Mazda partnership stands to be mutually beneficial and the automakers plan to work together on developing green solutions, among other automotive technology.
The new facility could open up at estimated 4,000 jobs to the U.S workforce, and may be ready to start production on Toyota Corollas and Mazda crossovers like the CX-9 as soon as 2021. According to the article, the partnership is hoping to rival Nissan’s work with Renault, which is a large factor in Nissan’s recognition as a “global leader in electric vehicles.”
