Volkswagen has recently announced that its 2018 U.S. lineup will be equipped with six year/72,000 mile warranties, which cover drivers twice as long as most warranties offered by competitors. This extensive bumper-to-bumper transferrable warranty arrives just in time for VW’s U.S. launch for its two new models, the 2018 Tiguan and Atlas crossovers. Though it does not cover Volkswagen’s electric vehicle e-Golf, the announcement is one step toward repairing the brand’s damaged reputation.


VW’s extended warranty offer comes off the heels of its September 2015 carbon emissions scandal, in which the German multinational company falsified carbon emissions reports for many of its vehicles. With this self-proclaimed “People First” warranty, VW hopes to earn back the public’s trust as well as its business, by boosting confidence in its brand.
